The Visual Kei band “Dolly” headlined the Japan Nite showcase at SXSW 2010.
By the time Dolly hit the stage the lighting was wonderful. The band employed a number of laser effects in addition to some nice rainbow lighting.
The venue where they were playing was extremely crowded and there was no photo pit so it was very difficult to move around to add variety to the shots.
An interesting side note to this shoot was that the band “Muse” was playing two clubs over at the same time for the same price which makes it even more surprising the large crowds that they were able to bring in. One of the concert goers mentioned that we were as close to Muse as we would have been in their typical stadium show.
Worked as a programming director at a college radio station in the eighties and in the tech industry in the nineties. Had a stroke in 2005 where I was given a few days to live. Decided to never again waste my time on things that aren't meaningful to me. Now I spend my time with my family and working as a photographer.
