I am not a bird expert but I believe this is a Krider’s hawk which is the great plains variation of the red tailed hawk. The most obvious difference being the lighter colored head. A great blue heron in the snow at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal Wildlife Refuge near Denver, Colorado. In a previous life this area was used by the government for the making and disposal of chemical weapons. Once that operation closed down the animals moved back in and it was eventually declared a wildlife refuge. Read More …
